Kings United Way is focused on building partnership with local stakeholders to develop the best community possible.

We advance this mission by empowering our citizens to donate their time, talents and money to work with the best possible partners to make sure services for people in need are available.

Whether it is addressing chronic homelessness, child health and wellness, or advocacy for seniors, our goal is to develop a community of healthy children, thriving students, responsive adults, and active seniors.

Affiliate Highlight- Valley Animal Haven

Laura Montoya

Our new affiliate (and brand new Kings County non-profit), Valley Animal Haven shared this sweet story with us:

"Our best success story this quarter was Coco.  She is a Chihuahua/Doxie mix.  She had been at Fresno Spca since August 2014.  We visited their shelter on May 15, 2015 with the intention of bringing animals from there facility into our shelter.  That's when we met Coco.  Since she had lived at their shelter for a very long time, with no adoption prospects, she had been moved from "adoptable" to death row.  We pulled her off of death row on May 15th and on the morning of May 16 she was adopted by a family visiting our shelter.  She literally went from death row to adopted within 24 hours of being at our shelter.  We were THRILLED!!! Coco is now enjoying an amazing life with her wonderful new family. "

Just this year, Valley Animal Haven has rescued 24 dogs from death row at animal shelters around the valley. We love hearing about and sharing all of the GREAT things happening because of our non-profit partners.

Valley Animal Haven will be holding a Yard Sale June 26-28 in order to raise money for shelter operations. To learn more about Valley Animal Haven, visit their website. To volunteer in the shelter, sign up here.
